42nd Hong Kong International Jewellery Show Opens as World's Largest Marketplace

The 42nd Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and runs for five consecutive days until 8 March. It is held concurrently with the 12th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show at AsiaWorld-Expo, with the two shows bringing together some 4,000 exhibitors from over 40 countries and regions to form the world's largest one-stop jewellery marketplace. Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, emphasized that through diversified exhibit profiles, the shows aim to create more collaboration opportunities and reinforce Hong Kong's status as a global jewellery trading hub.

The expanded Hall of Fame at the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show has grown by over 40%, welcoming more renowned international brands including Turkish exhibitor Hosgor Kuyumculuk Mucevherat Ticaret Limited Sirketi, which presents a 35.5-carat diamond necklace. New features include the debut of the Hard Pure Gold Pavilion, organized by the World Gold Council with 11 exhibitors showcasing innovative techniques that produce harder, lighter gold pieces capable of setting various gemstones. The Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Pavilion highlights crossover craftsmanship between jewellery setting and watchmaking, while Uzbekistan participates for the first time with a delegation of 10 companies showcasing gold jewellery.

Several events celebrate oriental aesthetics, including the Hong Kong International Fashion Chuk Kam Jewellery Design Competition awards presented by the Jewellers' and Goldsmiths' Association of Hong Kong Limited, encouraging designers to create culturally rich gold jewellery for ASEAN and Middle East markets. The inaugural International Fei Cui Jewellery Design Competition, organized by the Hong Kong Jade Association, honors designers blending jadeite with global cultural elements. The Antique & Vintage Jewellery Galleria presents rare pieces like a century-old bi-colour enamel diamond piece from World Coins Co., Ltd., while the Designer Galleria welcomes 10 Korean designers alongside the Young Jewellery Designer Arena, featuring about 50 designer exhibitors total.

E-commerce and technology initiatives help exhibitors expand into the Chinese Mainland market, with continued collaboration with Taobao Tmall and new partnership with Douyin featuring influencers for on-site live streaming. A seminar on 7 March will discuss online marketing trends, while another on 5 March explores how AI and new technologies enhance competitiveness and drive innovation in jewellery production. The 27th Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition returns under the theme "Pure Elegance – Natural Beauty" in partnership with multiple industry associations, offering a stage for local professional designers and students with winning pieces displayed after the 5 March awards ceremony.

Engaging events foster industry dialogue, including a seminar by distinguished British historian and jewellery authority Dr Jack Ogden analyzing the evolution of jewellery craftsmanship and aesthetic tastes. Jewellery parades will highlight themes such as intangible cultural heritage jewellery, curated selections from the Antique & Vintage Jewellery Galleria, and highlights from the Hall of Extraordinary, Designer Galleria, and gold jewellery. Kent Wong, Chairman of the shows' organizing committee, noted that continuing the successful "Two Shows, Two Venues" format helps the industry capture latest global market trends through sourcing and networking opportunities for global professionals.
