AgentConnect Launches Open-Source Platform for Multi-Agent Team Collaboration

AgentConnect today introduced its open-source platform for teams and multiple AI agents to work together across the communication and development tools they already use. The platform aims to address a key limitation in current AI agent usage: most agent work is confined to individual terminals, with fragmented context and siloed workflows. By bringing agents into existing team conversations, AgentConnect allows teams to configure multiple agents with distinct roles and collaborate through shared conversations and agent-to-agent calls.

“AI agents become much more useful when they can work with the rest of the team, not just one person in one terminal,” the AgentConnect team said. “AgentConnect brings agents with different roles into the conversations where work is already happening.” For instance, during an incident response, a team can deploy a triage agent to inspect context, a code specialist to trace a regression, and a verification agent to check proposed results—all within the same Slack thread. This model extends to support issues, pull request reviews, and scheduled or webhook-driven workflows, enabling human teammates to add context and redirect work as needed.

AgentConnect's key features include support for multiple agents with distinct configurations (models, workspaces, memory, MCP servers, skills, repository access, and sandbox policies), integration with existing tools like Slack, Telegram, and Discord, and the ability to start work from conversations, GitHub pull requests, webhooks, or schedules. Fine-grained access control allows teams to manage agent access separately from session visibility, ensuring security and compliance. The platform is open source under Apache 2.0 and can be self-hosted via Docker Compose or Kubernetes, keeping agent execution and workspaces within the team's environment.

The announcement is significant as it addresses the growing need for collaborative AI agent workflows. By integrating with tools teams already use, AgentConnect reduces friction and avoids the disruption of moving to a dedicated workspace. This approach could accelerate the adoption of multi-agent systems in enterprise settings, where collaboration and context sharing are critical. The open-source nature also allows organizations to customize and maintain control over their AI operations, a key consideration for security-conscious industries.
