Alsco Uniforms Expands Regional Presence with MacIntosh Services Acquisition

Alsco Uniforms has announced its acquisition of MacIntosh Services, a strategic move that will expand the company's operational footprint in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey markets. The acquisition represents a significant step in Alsco's ongoing growth strategy, which focuses on strategic regional expansions and service enhancement.

The purchase includes MacIntosh's Bethlehem location and its existing fleet, which will be rebranded under the Alsco Uniforms name in the coming months. This move allows Alsco to leverage MacIntosh's established customer base of over 800 clients while introducing its comprehensive uniform and linen services to a new regional market.

Bob Steiner, Alsco Uniforms' CEO, emphasized the importance of maintaining the strong community relationships that MacIntosh has developed over its century-long history. By integrating MacIntosh's operations, Alsco aims to preserve the high service standards that customers have come to expect while introducing its own extensive capabilities.

The acquisition continues Alsco's recent pattern of strategic growth, following its previous purchase of Churchill Linen. With this latest expansion, Alsco now operates more than 80 mixed-processing facilities across North America, serving diverse industries including healthcare, automotive, industrial, and hospitality.

Jim Kearns, Alsco's chief operating officer, noted that this acquisition is part of a broader strategy to invest in sales and service teams throughout North America. The move positions Alsco to provide hygienically clean uniforms, linens, floor mats, and related services to an increasingly wider customer base.

MacIntosh Services, originally established in 1919, brings a rich heritage to the acquisition. Founded as a retail laundry operation in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the company has evolved significantly over the decades. Under the leadership of James J. Rodgers, Sr., who acquired the business in 1994, MacIntosh has built a reputation for reliable service across its 14 operational routes.

For Alsco Uniforms, which celebrates over 135 years in business and is recognized as the world's largest uniform company, this acquisition represents another step in its continued expansion. With a presence in 13 countries and serving over 350,000 customers, the company remains committed to its core mission of providing clean, safe, and high-quality services across multiple industries.
