PURRR Adoption + Sanctuary and Abandoned Pet Rescue are partnering to host a shopping event where proceeds directly fund rescue operations and adoption services for cats and dogs in need.

PURRR Adoption + Sanctuary and Abandoned Pet Rescue are collaborating to host the Thrifty Kitty Pop-Up Boutique on Tuesday, September 30, as part of National Happy Cat Month celebrations. The event will feature a sneak peek from 4 to 5 p.m., followed by general admission from 5 to 8 p.m. at PURRR Adoption + Sanctuary located at 1556 E. Commercial Blvd. in Oakland Park, Florida.
The community is invited to participate in an evening of shopping where attendees can purchase bags for $50 (full) or $25 (half) and fill them with selected men's and women's fashion items, excluding luxury brands and wedding dresses which will be available at thrift pricing. All proceeds from the event will be equally split between the two organizations, directly supporting their lifesaving work in animal rescue and adoption services.
This collaboration represents a significant opportunity for both organizations to amplify their impact. Executive Director of PURRR Adoption + Sanctuary Michelle Schecht emphasized that partnering with Abandoned Pet Rescue means twice the impact for animals in need. Every bag purchased helps provide second chances for cats and dogs while connecting potential adopters with their future companions. Attendees will have the chance to meet adoptable cats and dogs and complete adoption applications on-site.
The event underscores the ongoing need for community support in animal welfare initiatives. Both organizations rely on fundraising events like this to continue their operations. PURRR Adoption + Sanctuary, founded in 2018, focuses on transforming cats' lives through rescue, adoption, and spay/neuter initiatives. Abandoned Pet Rescue, established in 1996, is one of South Florida's largest no-kill shelters, having cared for over 10,000 animals in the past decade.
