The Art Gallery of Ontario's inclusion in the Toronto CityPASS program makes one of Canada's premier art museums more affordable and accessible to visitors through bundled attraction tickets.

Art Gallery of Ontario Joins Toronto CityPASS Program, Expanding Cultural Access

The Art Gallery of Ontario has been added to the Toronto CityPASS program, expanding visitor access to one of Canada's preeminent cultural institutions. CityPASS, the first bundled attraction ticketing program in North America, offers significant savings on combined admission to top attractions across 17 major cities in the United States and Canada. The AGO represents a standout addition to the already impressive roster of Toronto CityPASS attractions.

Originally founded in 1900, the Art Gallery of Ontario is one of North America's largest art museums with a collection of more than 120,000 works spanning cutting-edge contemporary art, significant works by Indigenous and Canadian artists, and European masterpieces. The institution presents wide-ranging exhibitions and programs, including solo exhibitions and acquisitions by diverse and underrepresented artists from around the world. Home to the world's largest public collection of Henry Moore sculptures, highlights include Peter Paul Rubens' The Massacre of the Innocents from approximately 1610, Pablo Picasso's La misereuse accroupie from his Blue Period, and the Thomson Collection of Shipmodels.

The AGO is currently embarking on its seventh expansion since being founded in 1900. When completed in 2027, the new Dani Reiss Modern and Contemporary Gallery will increase exhibition space for the museum's growing modern and contemporary collection. This expansion coincides with the institution's inclusion in the CityPASS program, which makes the gallery more accessible to a broader audience. Megan Allen, president and CEO of City Pass, Inc., stated that "This partnership reinforces our mission to make world-class experiences more affordable, accessible and convenient for travelers."

Toronto CityPASS tickets save travelers up to 38% on prepaid admission to five of the city's top attractions in one mobile ticket. The program includes admission to CN Tower and Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, plus a choice of three additional attractions: Royal Ontario Museum, City Cruises Toronto, Casa Loma, Toronto Zoo, and now the Art Gallery of Ontario. Tickets cost $134.96 CAD for adults and $99.96 CAD for children ages 4-12, excluding tax, and are valid for nine consecutive days including the first day of use. Mobile tickets are available at https://citypass.com, and ticketholders can use the My CityPASS app to access tickets, view attraction details, special offers, upgrades, and more.

The AGO offers programming for all ages and interests beyond its permanent collection and special exhibitions, from live performances to talks, and is open late every Wednesday and Friday until 9 p.m. At the Dr. Mariano Elia Hands-On Centre, families with young visitors can engage in art-making activities, while mobile Art Carts bring themed art-making activities into the gallery every weekend. Seasonal programs including Family Day and March Break events combine storytelling, artmaking, and performances. Dining options range from art-inspired prix-fixe meals at the AGO Bistro to coffee at the Espresso Bar and high tea in the Members Lounge, with Shop AGO serving as a destination for artisan jewelry and art-inspired gifting.

This partnership represents a significant development in cultural accessibility, allowing more visitors to experience one of Canada's most important art institutions while saving on overall travel expenses. For 28 years, CityPASS tickets have provided savings on admission to top attractions in major destinations, with products receiving an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars based on more than 88,000 customer reviews. Since 1997, more than 30 million CityPASS tickets have been sold across 17 North American destinations including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Southern California, Tampa Bay, and Toronto.
