Aspen Healthcare Wins Best of Denton County 2026 in Home Health and Hospice

Aspen Healthcare has been named Best of Denton County 2026 in both the Home Health and Hospice categories, marking the sixth year the North Texas healthcare organization has earned recognition in the annual community awards. This dual win highlights the organization's sustained reputation among residents in a rapidly growing and competitive healthcare market.

Denton County's population has surged to over 1.06 million, an increase of approximately 18% since 2020, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. With more than 200 Medicare-certified home health or hospice agencies operating within 25 miles of Denton, standing out is no small feat. The repeated recognition by residents distinguishes providers that have established a lasting presence in the community.

CEO Sukhu George attributes the organization's success to its expanding palliative care program, which he says fills a critical gap for patients who need more support at home but are not yet ready for hospice. "A patient can still be pursuing curative treatment, or the prognosis may simply be uncertain," George explained. "We can send experienced clinicians, including prescribers such as nurse practitioners, into the home to help manage difficult symptoms and coordinate care." Unlike hospice, palliative care can be introduced at various stages of illness and provided alongside curative treatment, focusing on symptom relief and quality of life.

The palliative care addition complements Aspen's established suite of services, which includes home health, hospice, and home care. Home health delivers skilled nursing and rehabilitation for patients recovering at home, while home care offers private-duty personal care through aides on an as-needed or long-term basis. Hospice provides interdisciplinary support for patients with advanced terminal disease, emphasizing comfort and quality of life.

"Healthcare keeps moving toward the home, and we intend to keep moving with it," George said. "Our goal is not just to offer more services. It is to make sure patients and families have the right kind of support at the right point in their journey."

Founded in 2007, Aspen Healthcare employs over 200 home-health professionals and serves Dallas-Fort Worth, including Denton and Collin counties. The organization is Medicare-certified and CHAP-accredited, offering a broad continuum of care from its Lewisville headquarters. Its services include medical home health, hospice, palliative care, in-home primary care, private-duty nursing and aides, respiratory care, personal assistance, and veteran-centered services.

The Best of Denton County awards, established in 2004, rely on resident nominations across more than 400 categories, with finalists advancing to a community vote. The 2026 winners were announced August 26. Aspen's continued recognition in both home health and hospice categories underscores its commitment to community-based care and its ability to adapt to the evolving needs of patients and families in one of North Texas's most dynamic regions.
