Baltimore's 'Charm'tastic Mile' Seeks Unprecedented $1.25 Billion 100-Year Agreement with City

The 'Charm'tastic Mile' of Baltimore, a trademarked 1.3-mile corridor connecting downtown, the Inner Harbor, and Harbor East, is pursuing a 100-year agreement with the City of Baltimore valued at $1.25 billion. The proposed deal, which would span from 2026 to 2126, is structured in four 25-year phases with increasing annual values: $5 million per year for the first 25 years ($125 million), $10 million per year for the next 25 years ($250 million), $15 million per year for the subsequent 25 years ($375 million), and $20 million per year for the final 25 years ($500 million). The average annual value over the century would be $12.5 million.

The announcement comes as the 'Charm'tastic Mile' celebrated its 10th anniversary on April 25, 2026, marking a decade since it was introduced to the city. Both Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott and Maryland Governor Wes Moore recognized the milestone with a Certificate of Recognition and a Governor's Citation, respectively. The 'Charm'tastic Mile' shares its introduction date with the iconic Domino Sugars neon sign, which was first illuminated on April 25, 1951—65 years earlier.

The 'Charm'tastic Mile' is the only United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) registered trademark street in Baltimore and the state of Maryland. It was registered on September 15, 2020, joining the ranks of other famous trademarked streets such as the Magnificent Mile, Rodeo Drive, and the Las Vegas Strip. According to the press release, the 'Charm'tastic Mile' is listed on Google as one of the top 10 to 15 most famous streets in America.
