Batya Porter Named Emerging Leader Award Finalist for Community Leadership and Professional Excellence

Batya Porter, a Realtor and Property Tax Consultant with Horizon Realty, has been named a finalist for the Emerging Leader Award as part of the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce Annual Business Awards. The recognition highlights business professionals who demonstrate accelerated leadership growth, meaningful community involvement, and a deep commitment to the region they serve. Porter joins fellow finalists Lucia Murguia of Westwood Professional Services and Tanner O'Brien of ActionCOACH Central Texas, with winners to be announced on February 5, 2026.

Porter joined the Round Rock Chamber in November 2024, seeking connection with local business owners after more than a decade living in Texas. What began as a networking decision quickly became a turning point in her personal and professional growth. Early on, Porter invested in a two-minute spotlight at a Mid-Morning Mixer, where Chamber members provided encouragement, mentorship, and practical guidance that helped her grow into a confident speaker and visible community leader. Porter shared that joining the Chamber helped her grow immensely, both personally and professionally, giving her the confidence to show up, speak up, and truly connect.

Serving clients across Central Texas, Porter brings a rare blend of technical expertise and people-first service. She holds 12 professional real estate certifications and is widely recognized for her knowledge of property tax consulting, helping both residential and commercial clients navigate complex ownership decisions. Her nomination reflects not only her professional qualifications but also the way she shows up consistently for clients, peers, and the broader business community. Just months after joining, Porter was encouraged by fellow members to apply for the Chamber's Ambassador Program, where she has deepened her involvement by welcoming new members, supporting events, and strengthening trust across the business community.

One of the most meaningful aspects of Porter's recognition is her personal initiative to address food insecurity in local elementary schools. What began three years ago with snack support at Gattis Elementary, inspired by a connection through one of her earliest buyer clients, has grown steadily. In 2025, Porter expanded the program to support five schools: Gattis Elementary, Robertson Elementary, Berkman Elementary, Deepwood Elementary, and Reed Elementary.
