Birmingham OB/Gyn announces the development of the Trussville Women's Health Center, a full-service regional hub offering expanded services including screening mammography and AI-enabled cardiovascular risk assessment, aimed at improving access to women's healthcare in eastern Alabama.

Women and families throughout eastern Jefferson, St. Clair, and Blount Counties will soon have expanded access to comprehensive women's healthcare as Birmingham OB/Gyn announces the development of the Birmingham OB/Gyn – Trussville Women's Health Center at The Pinnacle Shopping Center in Trussville.
The Trussville Women's Health Center represents Birmingham OB/Gyn's continued commitment to making high-quality women's healthcare more convenient and accessible for one of Alabama's fastest-growing regions. Serving as the practice's regional hub for eastern Jefferson, St. Clair, and Blount Counties, the new location will expand services beyond those currently available at Birmingham OB/Gyn's existing Trussville office and provide a more comprehensive, patient-centered experience.
"This project isn't simply about opening a larger office," said David Carmichael, Chief Executive Officer of Birmingham OB/Gyn. "It's about making it easier for women to receive comprehensive healthcare closer to home. The women and families we serve have shown us through their travel patterns that they value convenient access to comprehensive women's healthcare, and this investment allows us to better meet those needs for years to come."
The Trussville Women's Health Center will transition Birmingham OB/Gyn's current Trussville presence from a limited clinic schedule to a full-time regional hub, offering appointments Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until noon.
The new center will transform the existing location into a full-service regional hub, adding screening mammography, dedicated ultrasound services, Non-Stress Testing (NST), expanded laboratory services, and increased appointment availability. Services will include comprehensive obstetrical and gynecologic care, dedicated ultrasound for obstetrical and gynecologic patients, screening mammography, Breast Arterial Calcification (BAC) assessment, on-site laboratory services, Non-Stress Testing (NST), women's wellness services, and expanded appointment availability.
By bringing these services together under one roof, patients will have greater opportunity to complete annual wellness visits, screening mammography, ultrasound, laboratory testing, and other preventive healthcare services during a single visit.
A cornerstone of the Trussville Women's Health Center will be the addition of 3D screening mammography, made possible through Birmingham OB/Gyn's partnership with Onsite Women's Health. In addition to routine breast cancer screening, the center will offer Mammo with heart, an AI-enabled clinical program designed to enhance preventive care by identifying breast arterial calcifications (BAC)—a marker associated with cardiovascular disease—during routine screening mammograms.
"Onsite Women's Health is proud to partner with Birmingham OB/Gyn to expand access to innovative breast health and imaging services for women throughout eastern Jefferson, St. Clair and Blount counties," said David Freedman, president and chief growth officer at Onsite. "By bringing advanced 3D screening mammography and our Mammo with heart program directly into the practice, we're making it more convenient for women to prioritize both their breast and heart health in a trusted, familiar setting."
Women whose BAC findings warrant additional evaluation will be encouraged to follow up with their primary care physician or an appropriate cardiovascular specialist. Birmingham OB/Gyn is committed to working collaboratively with physicians throughout the community to help ensure patients receive appropriate follow-up based on their individual risk factors.
"Healthcare should be convenient, connected, and centered around the patient," Carmichael said. "Our goal is to reduce unnecessary travel, improve access to preventive care, and provide women with more of the services they need in one location. We believe that's better for our patients, better for our communities, and ultimately leads to better health outcomes."
Melissa Walker, Director of the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the investment. "Trussville is thrilled to welcome this investment in women's healthcare. Birmingham OB/Gyn and Onsite Women's Health are bringing vital, convenient services closer to home for women in Trussville and the surrounding communities."
Although located in Trussville, the center is designed to serve women throughout eastern Jefferson County, St. Clair County, and Blount County. It will complement Birmingham OB/Gyn's existing locations in Birmingham and Hoover while continuing the practice's longstanding partnership with Grandview Medical Center, where Birmingham OB/Gyn physicians will continue providing obstetrical care and delivering babies.
Construction is expected to begin in the coming months, with additional project updates and a grand opening announcement to follow.
