Blue Faery Launches Hispanic Heritage Month Liver Cancer Awareness Campaign

Blue Faery, a nonprofit organization dedicated to liver cancer awareness and education, is expanding its Love Your Liver campaign during Hispanic Heritage Month to address the disproportionately high rates of liver cancer among Hispanic Americans. The initiative aims to provide culturally relevant education about liver cancer risk factors, surveillance, and treatments to a community that faces significant health disparities in this area.

Hispanic Americans are 2.5 times more likely to develop liver cancer compared to White Americans, making it one of the most pressing health issues for this demographic. To combat these challenges, Blue Faery is launching Love Your Liver Live, a series of virtual educational workshops specifically designed for the Hispanic community. The first event is scheduled for September 16 at 7 p.m. ET and will feature Dr. Jorge Marrero from Penn Medicine. A second workshop will take place on October 8 at 8 p.m. ET, led by Dr. Andrés Gómez-Aldana from the Texas Liver Institute. Both physicians are gastroenterologists and transplant hepatologists fluent in Spanish, ensuring that the information is delivered in a language and context that resonates with the target audience.

These free events offer community members the opportunity to learn about relevant liver cancer risks and management strategies from trusted local physicians. The workshops will be conducted entirely in Spanish, addressing the language barrier that often prevents Hispanic Americans from accessing critical health information.
