Boca Raton Historical Society's Sold-Out Event Highlights Community Engagement and Historic Preservation

The Boca Raton Historical Society celebrated another successful Toasts, Tastes & Trolleys event on September 12, marking the continuation of a tradition that combines community engagement with historical preservation. The sold-out progressive tour featured curated routes through Boca Raton's most significant locations, offering participants exclusive access to spaces not typically available to the public. Committee Chair Dawn Zook emphasized that the event embodies the community's appreciation for local culture and history, creating meaningful connections between residents and their city's heritage.

Participants began the evening at The Boca Raton for a welcome reception before boarding vintage Molly's Trolleys to visit five distinctive destinations. The tour included rare behind-the-scenes access to executive suites and historic sites, with each location offering wine, beer, and light bites while volunteer guides shared the historical significance of each stop. Florida Atlantic University President Adam Hasner personally welcomed guests to the President's Box at FAU Stadium, providing a unique perspective on one of the city's most iconic institutions.

The event's route showcased both historical and contemporary landmarks, including the modern offices of Paradise Bank, the oceanfront Opal Grand Resort & Spa in Delray Beach, and the waterfront Waterstone Resort & Marina featuring Kasumi Japanese restaurant. A particularly nostalgic stop at City of Boca Raton Fire Station #3 featured retired Fire Chief Tom Wood and the city's original 1925 fire engine, known as Old Betsy, alongside a historical marker installed through BRHS efforts.
