The 2025 CAHEC Awards celebrated outstanding contributions to affordable housing and community development, highlighting projects and individuals that exemplify innovation and dedication. Davis Park Station was named Development of the Year for its 73 affordable housing units and integrated Workforce Training Center, a result of a pioneering public-private partnership with the City of Lexington. This development not only addresses housing needs but also fosters economic opportunities in a revitalizing downtown area.
Reacy Lockhart received the CAHEC Values Award for his 16 years of service as Maintenance Lead Technician for the Columbus Housing Authority, overseeing maintenance at two large CAHEC-managed communities. His commitment ensures residents enjoy well-maintained amenities and a supportive living environment.
Goodwill Industries of Kentucky's West Louisville Opportunity Center earned the Outstanding Community Impact Award for its holistic approach to community development. By establishing a social services center in a distressed neighborhood, Goodwill has improved healthcare access and community well-being, including the development of the area's first hospital in over 150 years.
Kellie Freeman, a resident of Cornelia Gardens, was honored with the Resident Spotlight Award. Her story of overcoming personal challenges to become an active and positive community member underscores the transformative power of stable, affordable housing.
