Cancer Support Community SF Bay Area Breaks Ground on New State-of-the-Art Support Center

The Cancer Support Community San Francisco Bay Area (CSC) is set to transform cancer patient support with a groundbreaking new facility that promises to provide comprehensive care beyond traditional medical treatment. The organization will break ground on April 23 on a six-acre site adjacent to the Lafayette Reservoir, culminating a 35-year journey of providing critical psychosocial support to cancer patients and their families.

The new state-of-the-art center represents a significant leap forward in cancer support services, offering a holistic approach that addresses the emotional, social, and psychological challenges accompanying a cancer diagnosis. With innovative spaces including children and teen enrichment areas, support rooms with remote broadcast capabilities, a demonstration kitchen, counseling rooms, and a healing garden, the facility aims to create a nurturing environment for patients and their loved ones.

CSC's CEO Lucinda Bazile emphasized that the center is more than a building, but a community dedicated to understanding and supporting individuals through their cancer journey. The organization has already raised over 75% of the required funds, with an anonymous donor providing a $5 million matching grant to complete the project.

The new center will expand CSC's capacity to deliver free, culturally responsive support programs, both in-person and virtually.
