The Citizens Commission on Human Rights opened its traveling exhibit in Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona, exposing the history of psychiatric abuses and warning communities about the dangers of psychiatric treatments.

The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) Traveling Exhibit held its Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Tuesday, June 23rd at the Mini Social event space in Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona. The event highlighted CCHR's mission to expose abuses in the psychiatric industry and educate the public on human rights issues in mental health.
Local businessman Jimmy Alauria served as Master of Ceremonies, introducing CCHR's mission and the importance of protecting human rights in mental health care. Special guest speaker Judy Renfro, a member of JustServe, a global volunteerism movement of the LDS Church, shared her experiences helping individuals cope with addiction. She recounted tragic stories of people who lost everything to drugs, emphasizing the profound responsibility of medical professionals when prescribing medications that can alter behavior, create dependency, impair judgment, or affect cognitive function.
Following the ribbon cutting, guests toured graphic panels and watched documentaries that exposed the long history of false science and abuses in psychiatry. Many visitors expressed surprise at the history of how psychiatry started, with some initially disbelieving the accounts of psychiatric abuse until seeing the evidence in the exhibit. The exhibit was open to the public for its duration in Phoenix, attracting interest and fascination from visitors.
The CCHR traveling exhibit now moves to its next destination as part of a grand tour of major U.S. cities. According to CCHR, the exhibit warns parents and community members that psychiatric treatments can kill. There are 14 identical traveling exhibits operating in countries worldwide. For more information, visit the CCHR website, or watch documentaries on the work of CCHR volunteers around the world and the film Psychiatry: An Industry of Death on the Scientology Network.
Citizens Commission on Human Rights was co-founded in 1969 by professor of psychiatry Dr. Thomas Szasz and the Church of Scientology. CCHR Commissioners include physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, lawyers, legislators, government officials, educators, and civil rights representatives. CCHR is inspired by author, humanitarian, and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard's commitment to abolishing physically damaging practices in the field of mental health.
