Chatsworth Through Time Documentary to Air Nationally on Public Television in August 2026

The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) has announced that its original documentary "Chatsworth Through Time" will be broadcast on public television stations across the United States in August 2026. The film, produced in collaboration with the Chatsworth House Trust, provides an in-depth look at one of Great Britain's most renowned estates, located in the Peak District National Park and home to the Devonshire family for five centuries.

"Chatsworth Through Time" explores the evolution of the estate from the Tudor period to the present day, highlighting the architectural changes, landscape design, and the extensive art collection that spans generations. Hosted by Chatsworth's senior curators, the program includes an extended interview with the current Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, offering personal insights into the family's stewardship of the property.

ICAA president Peter Lyden emphasized the significance of the project, stating, "It was an honor at the ICAA to work with the Chatsworth House Trust, providing a unique opportunity to thoroughly explore the story of a house rich in architectural and artistic history. By opening the house's archives and hearing directly from the Duke of Devonshire, 'Chatsworth Through Time' provides unprecedented insight into the legendary estate."

Chatsworth is home to one of Europe's most significant private art collections, and the documentary showcases rare artworks and fine craftsmanship accumulated over seventeen generations. The film also examines how each era's political and social changes influenced renovations and expansions of the house and gardens.

The ICAA, a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to advancing traditional architecture and its allied arts, produced the documentary as part of its ongoing series "Design in Mind." The institute offers a range of programs including classes, travel, lectures, and publications such as the academic journal The Classicist and the Classical America Series.

Chatsworth House Trust, a registered charity, manages the estate with a focus on conservation, education, and sustainability. The trust reinvests all visitor income into maintaining the house, collections, garden, and parkland, and runs an ambitious program of exhibitions and community outreach.
