Clym Environmental Opens New Frostburg Facility, Advancing Sustainable Waste Management

FROSTBURG, MD — Clym Environmental Services, LLC officially opened its new processing facility in Frostburg, Maryland, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 27, 2026. The event drew more than 100 attendees, including elected officials, industry leaders, and community partners, who gathered to celebrate the milestone and tour the state-of-the-art site.

The ceremony featured remarks from key figures, including Charles Watts, President of Clym Environmental; Secretary Harry Coker of the Maryland Department of Commerce; Bill Atkinson, Allegany County Commissioner; Jeff Barclay, Director of Allegany County Economic Development; and Kelly Schulz, CEO of the Maryland Tech Council. Juli McCoy, President & CEO of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce, praised the project's impact, stating, "Clym Environmental will create living-wage jobs, and its operations, using technology and environmental science, make its proximity to Frostburg State University a perfect fit for the Frostburg Business Park and Allegany County."

The event also included a VIP tour and information stations showcasing the facility's ozone treatment technology, along with a display by Energy Select, the solar company that installed the facility's solar power system. Additionally, Clym received a certificate of congressional recognition presented on behalf of Congresswoman April McClain Delaney. Kendall Abruzzese, Western Maryland Outreach Coordinator, delivered the certificate, commending Clym's "pioneering work in environmentally friendly and innovative waste management biotechnology" and its contribution to workforce opportunities and economic growth in Western Maryland.

The Frostburg facility will utilize Clym's proprietary ozone treatment technology to process biohazardous material, converting it into safe, reusable materials. This technology generates ozone from ambient air and is powered by solar energy, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional thermal treatment methods. This approach underscores Clym's commitment to sustainability and aligns with the growing demand for eco-friendly waste management solutions in the life sciences, healthcare, and pharmaceutical industries.

The ribbon-cutting follows several achievements for Clym, including being named the Life Sciences Innovation of the Year winner at the Maryland Tech Council's 2026 ICON Awards. The new facility supports Clym's expansion across the eastern United States and reinforces its role in advancing sustainable waste management practices.
