Comfort Area Foundation Distributes $442,000 in Flood Relief Funding to Texas Hill Country Businesses and Families

The Comfort Area Foundation has mobilized critical resources to the Texas Hill Country community following the devastating July 4th flooding, distributing more than $442,000 in financial assistance raised through grants and fundraising activities. This funding represents the first step in the ongoing recovery of small businesses devastated by the July flooding events that impacted communities throughout the region.

Thanks to donor generosity and two grants awarded by the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, the funds were deployed directly into the community, providing assistance to 93 local businesses and 78 property owners and families most affected by the flooding. Chris Havens, President at the Comfort Area Foundation, emphasized that these funds represent more than financial assistance for residents of Center Point, Comfort, Waring, and Sisterdale—they symbolize hope, stability and the collective commitment to stand together during times of crisis.

With rebuilding efforts now in full swing, the foundation is encouraging visitors to return to the region to support local businesses, restaurants and nonprofits that continue to drive recovery and revitalization. Havens noted that support through tourism will be the next critical phase in helping rebuild communities, stating that without traditional summer tourism, long-term recovery requires significant weekend tourism and local shopping to return to the Greater Comfort region.
