DFW Car & Toy Museum Showcases Rare Benz Patent-Motorwagen Replica

The DFW Car & Toy Museum has introduced a rare Benz Patent-Motorwagen replica, Serial No. 044, to its collection, providing visitors with a firsthand look at the vehicle that marked the beginning of the automotive era. This replica, crafted by John Bentley and Sons Engineering, commemorates the 100th anniversary of Carl Benz's invention, the world's first true automobile.

Featuring a 954cc single-cylinder engine and a design faithful to the original, the Motorwagen replica includes authentic details such as a tubular steel frame, woodwork, and brass hardware. It represents a significant piece of automotive history, offering insights into the early days of vehicle engineering and design.

Brian Sturgeon, manager of the DFW Car & Toy Museum, emphasizes the replica's value as a historical artifact, stating it serves as a time machine to the automotive world's inception. The museum, known for its extensive collection of rare vehicles and memorabilia, continues to attract visitors with its unique exhibits, including this latest addition.
