Dubai to Host 9th Knowledge Summit, Focusing on Future Skills and AI Economy

Dubai is set to become the epicenter of global knowledge exchange as it prepares to host the 9th edition of the Knowledge Summit on November 18-19, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Center. Under the theme 'Future Skills and AI Economy', this year's summit promises to be a landmark event in shaping the future of knowledge-based economies worldwide.

Organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the summit will bring together thought leaders, policymakers, and innovators to discuss the challenges and opportunities in developing sustainable knowledge-based economies. The event, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, underscores the emirate's commitment to fostering innovation and knowledge dissemination on a global scale.

A key highlight of the summit will be the introduction of the Global Knowledge Index 2024, a comprehensive tool that has gained significance in recent years for guiding national policies and strategies. The index evaluates various knowledge fields, including education, research and development, innovation, technology, and the knowledge-based economy, providing valuable insights for sustainable development planning.

In a first for the Arab world, the summit will also host the 3rd UNESCO World OER Congress, focusing on Open Educational Resources. This congress is expected to draw approximately 500 ministers, senior officials, and decision-makers from crucial sectors such as education, digital services, and communications, highlighting the summit's role in shaping global educational policies.

The summit's agenda is set to feature an expanded program of interactive sessions, workshops, and knowledge events, surpassing previous editions with over 747 sessions planned. More than 1,765 speakers, representing some of the world's most innovative thinkers, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers, are expected to participate, addressing a diverse range of topics including sustainable economic growth, workforce skills for future jobs, critical thinking, and emerging technologies like data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of the MBRF, emphasized the summit's role in establishing Dubai as a global hub for innovation and knowledge exchange. He stated that the event contributes significantly to improving living standards and charting a sustainable future that prioritizes innovation and cutting-edge technology as drivers of growth and prosperity.

The Knowledge Summit will also serve as a platform to honor recipients of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award, recognizing outstanding contributions to knowledge dissemination and inspiring creative individuals to explore new avenues for sharing and cultivating knowledge.

With the inclusion of panel discussions on future skills and AI by Coursera, the renowned online learning platform, the summit is poised to offer practical insights into the evolving landscape of education and workforce development in the digital age.
