Durango Resources Expands Land Position in British Columbia's Babine South Project, Targeting Critical Metals

Durango Resources Inc. has expanded its land position at the Babine South gold-silver-copper-zinc exploration project in British Columbia, increasing the total property size to approximately 1,070 hectares across four mineral claims. The strategic expansion follows recent positive assay results and reflects the company's commitment to exploring critical metals with significant potential for mineral discovery.

The Babine South project, located in the Babine Porphyry Belt north of Smithers, British Columbia, presents a promising geological landscape. Historical records indicate silver production from the site dating back to the 1920s and 1930s, with previous trenching activities yielding 94 kilograms of silver. Recent sampling efforts have revealed promising mineral values, including up to 3.39 grams per tonne gold, 3,430 grams per tonne silver, 8.86% zinc, and 1% copper.

The property's geological setting, characterized by Cache Creek Group greenstones, hosts mineralization in quartz-carbonate veins and shears. The presence of minerals such as argentiferous galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, and native silver underscores the project's potential for an epithermal polymetallic deposit. Furthermore, the occurrence of ultramafic rocks like peridotite, pyroxenite, and dunite suggests additional opportunities for nickel and platinum group element exploration.

The expansion comes at a critical time in the global minerals sector, where both the United States and Canada have identified specific critical minerals essential for national economic and technological advancement. Recent geopolitical tensions, particularly surrounding mineral supply chains dominated by China, have highlighted the strategic importance of developing domestic mineral resources.
