Eco Expo Asia 2025 Showcases Green Technologies Driving Carbon Neutrality

The 20th Eco Expo Asia opened today at AsiaWorld-Expo, gathering approximately 340 exhibitors from 13 countries and regions for a four-day event focused on advancing green technologies and sustainable solutions. Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, with co-organization from the Environment and Ecology Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the expo features three key technological areas: Circular Economy and Waste Management, Green & Smart Mobility, and ESG-related Services. This year's theme, 'Green Innovations for Carbon Neutrality,' aligns with both Hong Kong's net zero goals and recent policy directions emphasizing green technology applications and low-carbon living environments.

HKTDC Executive Director Sophia Chong emphasized the expo's significance, noting that the 20th edition marks a commitment to sustainability and developing ecosystems for innovation and collaboration. Secretary for Environment and Ecology Tse Chin-wan highlighted Hong Kong's unique position as an international city within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, serving as a 'super connector' that brings together talent, technology, and capital to scale up green innovation. The expo features 17 pavilions, including first-time participants such as the Environmental Campaign Committee showcasing 22 local green start-ups and the ANSO Environmental Technology Industry Alliance presenting technologies related to water resources and atmospheric environment.

International participation has expanded with new pavilions from Italy and South Korea, alongside returning exhibitors from Canada, the Netherlands, and Norway. The expo actively supports global expansion for green businesses through tomorrow's 'Experience Sharing Forum on Promoting Environmental Business in Overseas Markets,' where government officials from Belt and Road countries will share local market development strategies. In collaboration with the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the event has invited government service providers from Chinese Mainland, ASEAN, and Belt and Road countries to source green technologies and products.

Notable innovations in Circular Economy and Waste Management include Green AI Technology Limited's AI-powered smart sorting bin with real-time waste identification at https://www.ecoexpoasia.com and Dynagreen Environmental Protection Group Co., Ltd's comprehensive waste treatment project. Green & Smart Mobility features include SANY Turbo Fly Machine Limited's mobile charging power station capable of charging two electric trucks simultaneously and CIMC Enric Investment Holding (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.'s hydrogen and green methanol technology solutions for transportation and storage.

ESG-related services showcase innovative platforms like Llewellyn and Partners Company Limited's AutoTwin, a patented AI-powered integrated management platform for the construction industry that reduces operating costs and carbon emissions. XSIM AI Canada Inc. demonstrates its AI-driven system for wastewater and industrial facilities, cutting carbon emissions by up to 30%. Research institutions play a significant role, with first-time participants Lingnan University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University Jinjiang Technology and Innovation Research Institute joining The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The Eco Asia Conference began today with government sessions featuring Ding Zhijun, Deputy Director of the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, sharing latest environmental policies. The conference will continue with sessions on 'Building a Sustainable Future: Gearing Towards a Net-Zero Built Environment' and 'Green & Smart Mobility - Envisioning the Future of Transportation,' featuring industry leaders including Pak-cheung Chan, Deputy Director of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, and Dr Rick Mo of the Hong Kong Productivity Council. Additional events include the 6th Hydrogen Economy Forum with keynote address by Diane Wong, JP, Under Secretary for Environment and Ecology, and the FHKI Q-Mark Low Carbon Restaurant Award 2025.

On October 31, the expo will open to the public free of charge, featuring seminars on extreme weather by Hong Kong Observatory's Chief Experimental Officer Man Yee Chan, presentations by Ocean Park on wildlife protection initiatives, environmental workshops, and eco-friendly product purchases at the Green Mart. The event runs concurrently with the Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo at AsiaWorld-Expo and the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, with free shuttle bus services connecting venues throughout the fair period.
