Falcon Energy Materials is progressing toward Q4 2025 completion of its Moroccan pilot plant for battery anode materials, positioning the company as a key non-Chinese supplier in the global battery supply chain with three major customers already testing samples.

Falcon Energy Materials Advances Pilot Plant Construction with Customer Qualification Underway

The construction of Falcon Energy Materials' pilot plant at Jorf Lasfar, Morocco remains on schedule for completion and commissioning in Q4 2025, representing a significant step in establishing large-scale coated spherical purified graphite production outside China for the global battery industry. Civil construction works are progressing under Open Steel Structure Maroc S.A.R.L, the Moroccan subsidiary of Open Building Systems of China, with fabrication of structural steel completed and delivery to site scheduled for late October. All major processing equipment has been installed at Hensen Graphite & Carbon Corporation in China, with shipment to Morocco expected in November 2025.

The strategic location within Fluoralpha S.A.'s industrial complex at Jorf Lasfar provides direct access to world-class port infrastructure, competitive operating costs, and proximity to both European and North American markets. This positioning offers Falcon a strategic advantage in serving the growing battery manufacturing sectors outside China. The pilot plant development marks a pivotal milestone toward securing long-term offtake agreements for Falcon's proposed 25,000 tonnes per annum commercial scale anode facility.

First CSPG samples have been produced in China and delivered to three potential customers who have commenced their qualification processes. Falcon has produced two distinct specifications tailored to customer requirements, with 50kg sample batches currently under evaluation by major potential customers. The company expects to operate the pilot plant throughout October 2025 ahead of shipment to Morocco for final commissioning. The strategic partnerships with Hensen and Fluoralpha extend beyond construction, representing the development of a comprehensive industrial value chain designed to lead the global battery market.

Matthieu Bos, CEO of Falcon, emphasized the importance of this development, stating that the pilot plant represents not just sample production capability but advancement toward establishing a major anode production facility outside China. The company is actively testing several high-quality graphite feedstock sources to ensure scalable, reliable supply for growing operations. This progress comes as global battery manufacturers seek diversified supply chains beyond Chinese dominance in anode material production, making Falcon's Moroccan facility strategically important for European and North American battery markets seeking alternative sourcing options.
