Ferrari 250 GT Red Special Spyder Reimagined for Ron Sturgeon Collection

The Ron Sturgeon Collection has welcomed a remarkable addition, a 1970 Ferrari 250 GT Red Special Spyder, a handcrafted tribute to one of Ferrari's most exclusive designs. This recreation pays homage to the 1957 Berlinetta Speciale, originally crafted by Pinin Farina for Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, embodying the elegance and spirit of the rare original.

Equipped with a high-revving engine producing an estimated 320 horsepower, the Spyder features a five-speed manual transmission, ventilated disc brakes, and a quad-exit exhaust system, blending performance with classic aesthetics. Its design includes distinctive elements such as an oval grille, independent front bumperettes, and curved tailfins, mirroring the original's iconic Superfast-inspired look.

Inside, the Spyder boasts a wood-rimmed steering wheel with the prancing horse emblem, Veglia Borletti gauges, and additional instrumentation, offering a glimpse into the luxury and precision of Ferrari's heritage. Ron Sturgeon, founder of the DFW Car & Toy Museum, remarked on the car's significance as a tribute to Ferrari's craftsmanship and exclusivity.

This recreation not only celebrates the legacy of one of Ferrari's most distinguished models but also underscores the timeless appeal of Italian automotive design, making it a standout piece in the Ron Sturgeon Collection.
