A new survey from Finfluential identifies Michael Kitces, Christine Benz, and Jason Zweig as the most influential voices in financial media, highlighting their decades-long impact on the industry.

Finfluential, a Substack publication from Lowe Group covering innovation in financial influencers, has released the results of its first-ever "Centers of Finfluence" survey, naming Michael Kitces, Christine Benz, and Jason Zweig as the top vote-getters. The survey, which polled over 60 financial professionals, asked participants to name the three voices they follow most closely in the industry.
Michael Kitces, creator of the Nerd's Eye View blog, secured the top spot. Christine Benz of Morningstar and Jason Zweig, a Wall Street Journal columnist, tied for second place. "Financial media is more crowded than ever with new voices constantly vying for attention, but a small number of people continue to set the terms of the conversation," said Finfluential Editor Greg Joslyn. "Our first Centers of Finfluence recognizes three individuals who've earned their influence over decades, not overnight."
Kitces has spent 18 years building Nerd's Eye View into one of the industry's most-read sources of technical education for financial advisors, reaching a large monthly readership and anchoring a wider business around advisor training. Benz, who has spent over 30 years at Morningstar, currently serves as its Director of Personal Finance and Retirement Planning. She has used her platform to build The Long View into a leading retirement- and investing-focused podcast, while also penning a must-read column for retirement professionals. Zweig, through his Wall Street Journal column The Intelligent Investor, has held Wall Street accountable with a mix of investigative work and plain-spoken reminders about fees, complexity, and market realities, earning some of financial journalism's top honors.
What unites the three is staying power: each built a distinctive, consistent voice over a long career. Finfluential will publish its runners-up list next week, along with a look at which voices resonated most with different types of audiences.
