Canadian entrepreneur Frank Giustra's memoir 'The Money Dilemma' reveals his transition from achieving financial success to finding true contentment through philanthropy, challenging the ultra-rich to rethink wealth's potential.

Renowned Canadian entrepreneur and philanthropist Frank Giustra is set to release his memoir, The Money Dilemma: My Unlikely Path to Wealth, Philanthropy, and Peace, on November 3, 2026, through Page Two. The book chronicles his journey from a high-stakes financier to a global humanitarian, exploring the profound realization that wealth alone does not bring contentment.
Giustra, who built some of the world's most significant gold companies and founded Lionsgate, the largest independent movie studio in Hollywood, reached the pinnacle of business success by age 39. Yet, he found that financial achievement left a void. In the memoir, he candidly details his evolution from a Type-A Merrill Lynch broker to a leader in philanthropy, emphasizing that meaning comes from giving back.
“Money in itself is worthless. It's what you do with it. From having none at all, to having it all, to sharing it all, Frank's life goes through all the human raw emotions before finding purpose and meaning,” wrote Pierre Lassonde, O.C., G.O.Q., mining entrepreneur and philanthropist, in a review of the book.
Giustra's philanthropic efforts have led him to donate over $250 million to humanitarian initiatives. Central to this work is Acceso, the social business builder he launched in 2007 to combat poverty through entrepreneurial solutions, particularly agribusiness ventures in Colombia, El Salvador, Haiti, and Guatemala. Through Acceso and the Giustra Foundations, he has advanced sustainable solutions to food insecurity, youth education, support for children and families, community development, and refugee resettlement.
Chef José Andrés, founder of World Central Kitchen, praised Giustra's approach, stating, “The world needs more people like Frank Giustra. He knows that real change requires more than generosity alone; it requires listening, showing up, and standing beside communities in moments that matter most.”
In recounting his multifaceted life, Giustra implicitly challenges the ultra-rich to rethink the meaning and potential of their wealth. The memoir turns gradually from getting to giving, consumption to compassion, and from fame and fortune to friends and family. For more information, visit FrankGiustra.com or Acceso.org.
Giustra is a Member of the Order of Canada, an inductee of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame, and recipient of the inaugural Dalai Lama Humanitarian Award. Through his foundations, he continues to use his resources, expertise, and influence to create a more equitable world for future generations.
