Garuda Indonesia's new initiative provides free domestic roundtrip flights to international passengers, aiming to extend stays and spread tourism benefits across Indonesia.

Garuda Indonesia Offers 170,000 Free Domestic Seats to International Travelers, Boosting Multi-Destination Tourism

Garuda Indonesia is offering 170,845 domestic roundtrip seats at no additional fare to eligible international passengers flying to Indonesia from 14 origin cities across 10 countries. This strategic move is designed to encourage travelers to explore beyond the main international gateways of Jakarta and Denpasar, fostering longer stays and multi-destination travel. The program, available for travel from 1 August to 30 November 2026, integrates the airline's international network with its extensive domestic routes, allowing passengers with roundtrip international tickets to add a domestic roundtrip journey to their itinerary.

Under the banner of #DiscoverMoreIndonesia, the initiative aims to distribute tourism spending across the archipelago, benefiting local economies, hotels, restaurants, and MSMEs. By connecting international traffic to domestic destinations, Garuda Indonesia expects to increase the economic value of each arrival. Prina Eka Putri, Garuda Indonesia Marketing Group Head, emphasized that the program strengthens Indonesia's appeal by combining international reach with domestic breadth. "Indonesia offers far more than a single destination. By making onward domestic travel easier, we want international travellers to stay longer, explore more regions and experience more of what Indonesia has to offer," she said.

The program also serves Indonesian diaspora, migrant workers, and citizens returning from overseas, providing them with convenient connections to their home regions. Agny Gallus Pratama, Southeast Asia Branch Manager and Head of the Free Domestic Flight Project Management Office, highlighted the scale of the allocation: "The opportunity is not only to bring more travellers into Indonesia, but to enable each arrival to reach more destinations. When visitors travel further and stay longer, the economic impact can extend to hotels, restaurants, local transportation, tourism operators and MSMEs across the regions."

By facilitating easier access to multiple destinations within a single trip, Garuda Indonesia aims to enhance its competitiveness in international markets. This initiative leverages the airline's domestic network to offer travelers a seamless and valuable journey, encouraging them to discover more of Indonesia's diverse attractions. Further details, including eligibility, booking procedures, and terms, are available on Garuda Indonesia's official Free Domestic Flight webpage.
