Geological Study Reveals High-Grade Gold Potential in British Columbia's Golden Triangle

A comprehensive geological study conducted by the Colorado School of Mines has uncovered substantial evidence of high-grade gold potential at the Surebet discovery within the Golddigger Property in British Columbia's Golden Triangle. The research confirms a Reduced Intrusion-Related Gold (RIRG) source and identifies two distinct gold-bearing geological settings that demonstrate extensive mineralization.

The study reveals two primary high-grade gold environments: shear-hosted quartz-sulfide veins and gold-bearing felsic to intermediate dykes. These settings are characterized by widespread visible gold that increases in both abundance and coarseness as drilling progresses deeper into the geological formation. Significantly, the mineralization ages range from 50.7 to 52.0 million years, establishing a common Eocene-age magmatic origin.

Researchers discovered notable intercepts of up to 34.52 g/t gold equivalent over 39 meters, supported by consistent mineralization across 243 drill holes. This extensive data set validates the substantial scale of the gold system and highlights the previously overlooked potential of Eocene-aged mineralization in a region traditionally focused on Jurassic geological targets.

The geological analysis also uncovered a newly recognized phase separation process within CO₂-rich hydrothermal fluids. Melt droplet inclusions and fluid textures provide insights into the complex formation mechanisms of these gold-rich geological structures, offering researchers and mining companies a more nuanced understanding of mineralization processes.

These findings represent a significant advancement in understanding the geological potential of the Golden Triangle region. By confirming the RIRG source and demonstrating the extensive gold mineralization, the study opens new possibilities for exploration and potential resource development.
