The accounting profession in Georgia has once again demonstrated its commitment to combating hunger through the highly successful 11th annual Georgia Accounting Food Fight. This year's campaign, a collaborative effort between the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and Feeding Georgia, raised an impressive $347,591.16, equivalent to nearly 1.4 million meals for food banks across the state.

The two-week competition, which concluded recently, saw accounting professionals from various firms competing to raise funds for nine food banks throughout Georgia. The campaign's timing is strategically set to replenish food bank stocks after the summer surge in demand, which typically occurs when school lunch assistance programs end for the year.

This year's Grand Prize Food Fight Hero was awarded to Anna Abernathy LLC, which raised $3,390.75 and earned the most points per employee statewide. Nichols, Cauley and Associates claimed the title of Grand Prize Hunger Champion Winner, raising an outstanding $51,483.96 and accumulating the most statewide points overall.

The success of this year's campaign brings the total amount raised since the initiative's inception in 2014 to $2,507,681.61, translating to over 10 million meals for Georgia's food banks. This substantial contribution underscores the accounting industry's significant role in addressing food insecurity in the state, where currently 1 in 9 Georgians face uncertainty about their next meal.
