Global Livestream Event to Celebrate World Rainforest Day with 'Planet Walkers'

Rainforest Partnership is set to host a global livestream event titled 'Planet Walkers: A Global Livestream and Call to Breathe With the Forest' on June 22, in celebration of World Rainforest Day. This event will feature guided walks from various biodiversity hotspots around the globe, including the Amazon, Kenya, and Southeast Asia, among others. Participants are encouraged to join in solidarity with nature, either in person or online, to raise awareness about the importance of rainforests.

The livestream, accessible at www.worldrainforestday.org, will include contributions from Indigenous leaders, scientists, and cultural storytellers, offering a unique blend of slow cinematography, natural sounds, and personal narratives. The initiative seeks to transform World Rainforest Day into a global demonstration of ecological solidarity, aiming to mobilize one million participants and generate significant digital engagement.

Niyanta Spelman, CEO of Rainforest Partnership, emphasizes the event's significance, stating, 'When we walk with the forest, we walk for our future. Every step is a statement.' The campaign also focuses on raising funds for rainforest protection through acre pledges and donations, alongside engaging corporate sponsors in CSR and ESG opportunities.

World Rainforest Day, observed annually on June 22, underscores the vital role of rainforests in climate change mitigation, rainfall regulation, and supporting biodiversity.
