A dog named Gunnar wrote a hilarious 5-star Yelp review for Hike Doggie, capturing the essence of the service's mission to make dogs happy.

Hike Doggie, the premier dog hiking service based in Golden, Colorado, is celebrating a unique customer review that has the potential to go viral. The review, posted on Yelp, was written from the perspective of Gunnar, a four-year-old Black Labrador Retriever whose owner is Kristi Gacke of Denver. In his review, Gunnar describes his daylong hiking adventure on June 16 as “the greatest adventure of his life,” narrowly beating the time he found a half a chicken nugget in a parking lot.
Kath Allen, founder of Hike Doggie, expressed delight at the review. “The moment we spotted the post, we just knew we had to share Gunnar’s five-star review with as many people as possible,” Allen said. “What he wrote in his awesome Yelp review perfectly encapsulates what makes our full-service hiking adventures so special for dogs, capturing the very essence of our brand’s mission statement to ‘make dogs as happy as they make us.’”
Gunnar’s review begins with a disclaimer that he is a real canine and not a paid spokesdog. He recounts his journey from a routine walk around the block to being transported in one of Hike Doggie’s climate-controlled “Big Blue Busses” to the Rockies. “I was so excited that only moments after departing from my human owner, I felt I was already gone emotionally,” Gunnar wrote.
Kristi Gacke, Gunnar’s owner and director of sales and marketing for Denver-based HHM Hotels, was not surprised by the attention. “To say he’s still pretty amped up about the experience is an understatement,” Gacke said. “But Gunnar has always been a very expressive doggie, quite vocal, even back when he was just a puppy. Honestly, I’m really not all that surprised he’s gone and done something viral - he’s kind of been destined for greatness from the day we got him.”
In his review, Gunnar detailed his observations from the hike: he discovered 17 sticks, catalogued 43 different smells, and encountered numerous squirrels. After returning home, he “collapsed face-first on the floor, slept for six hours, barked once in his sleep, dreamed about chasing a squirrel, and woke up with a leaf still stuck to his butt.”
Gunnar’s only complaint was that Hike Doggie eventually had to bring him back home. He signed off the post with a signature describing himself as the “Founder & CEO of Barkshire Hathaway, as well as the Director of Sniff Operations/Lead Squirrel Intelligence Officer, Good Boy, First Class.”
