KIT WAN STUDIOS to Headline CENTRESTAGE ELITES Runway in Hong Kong This September

HONG KONG — The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) announced that KIT WAN STUDIOS, a multidisciplinary design and visual art studio led by Hong Kong-born creative director and visual artist Kit Wan, will headline the CENTRESTAGE ELITES runway show on 2 September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event, part of the third edition of “Hong Kong Fashion Fest,” marks a homecoming for the studio, which will present a new collection fusing sci-fi inspirations with mechanical aesthetics, bridging the gap between collectable and wearable fashion.

Kit Wan’s work has gained international recognition for merging manga and mythology with bespoke metalwork, multimedia installations, and cinematic garment design. His “abstract reality” approach spans costume design for global stages and permanent museum exhibits. The studio’s collaborative roster includes local superstars Aaron Kwok, Hins Cheung, and Nicholas Tse, as well as international figures such as Alan Cumming and Teddy Swims. Wan’s designs have been featured at the Grammy Awards and Eurovision, bringing Hong Kong design to top-tier global platforms.

For the CENTRESTAGE ELITES show, Wan emphasized the personal significance of the collection: “It feels like ‘THE’ moment for my work to come from my clearest voice, from my clearest mind. This collection is from my heart, my voice – so completely – and I am excited to share that with my hometown of Hong Kong.” The artist, who first studied knitwear at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, later earned an MA in fashion design in Oslo, Norway, where he became the first fashion designer to receive the “Young Artist Award” from the Norwegian government. His creations are part of the permanent collection of the National Museum of Norway.

In 2025, KIT WAN STUDIOS was selected by Fashion Asia Hong Kong as the sole Hong Kong representative among the “2025 10 Asian Designers to Watch.” The studio’s work continues to challenge conventional boundaries, infusing pop culture with avant-garde aesthetics. During CENTRESTAGE, Wan will also lead a sharing session on his creative journey and the studio’s innovative designs.

Now in its 11th edition, CENTRESTAGE reinforces Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s fashion hub. The fair will feature thematic zones, fashion parades, and industry seminars exploring topics such as sustainable fashion and AI in design.
