KM&M strengthens its entertainment law capabilities by adding Dan Stone, an experienced attorney with 16 years of expertise spanning entertainment, media, technology, and labor law, enhancing the firm's ability to serve clients navigating complex industry challenges.

KM&M has expanded its entertainment practice with the addition of Dan Stone as a partner in the firm's Los Angeles office. Stone brings more than 16 years of experience across entertainment, media, technology, sports, and labor and employment law, providing a comprehensive understanding of the business and creative forces shaping contemporary industries. His practice encompasses intellectual property protection, contract disputes, rights of publicity and privacy, labor and employment issues, and compliance under California's Talent Agencies Act.
Stone's background includes representing both plaintiffs and defendants in all stages of litigation and dispute resolution, including trials and appeals during his tenure as a partner at Greenberg Glusker. His previous role as Assistant General Counsel at the Directors Guild of America involved negotiating and interpreting collective bargaining agreements while advising on pension and health plan matters affecting thousands of entertainment professionals. This combination of entertainment industry experience and labor law expertise positions him to address the complex legal challenges facing today's creative and corporate clients.
Bill Zuckerman, KM&M's Managing Partner and Entertainment Group Leader, emphasized the strategic importance of this addition, noting that Stone brings not only deep legal knowledge but also firsthand insight into how creative and business decisions intersect in the rapidly evolving entertainment landscape. Stone's thought leadership has been featured in prominent publications including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, and Variety, where he has provided commentary on legal and labor developments affecting Hollywood.
The expansion comes as entertainment companies face increasingly complex legal challenges involving digital transformation, intellectual property rights, and evolving labor regulations. Stone's experience extends beyond traditional legal practice, having previously worked in television development as Director of Development for a studio-affiliated production company. His background includes membership in the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, reflecting his longstanding commitment to the creative community. Stone earned his J.D. from Loyola Law School and his B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.
KM&M, founded more than 50 years ago, represents businesses ranging from Fortune 500 companies to startups and not-for-profit entities in labor, employment, and immigration matters. The firm combines large-firm expertise with boutique firm flexibility and personal service, focusing on helping clients avoid distracting legal problems while they concentrate on building their businesses. Stone's addition strengthens KM&M's ability to serve clients navigating the intersection of creative rights, technological innovation, and business strategy in the entertainment industry.
