Michaud Law Group Represents $1 Billion Renewable Energy Park at Historic Remington Woods

Michaud Law Group LLC is representing the development of an approximately $1 billion renewable energy park on the historic Remington Woods property in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The project, which spans roughly 400 acres along the Bridgeport-Stratford border, will integrate solar generation, battery storage, environmental conservation, and public access on a site with a legacy dating back to the Civil War.

The property was previously used by Remington Arms for ammunition manufacturing and munitions testing, with activity continuing through both World Wars. Now, plans call for about 51 acres of solar panels and battery storage facilities, while the majority of the land will be transformed into a nature preserve. The conservation component is expected to include a natural science center, an outdoor classroom, a student viewing platform, and protected natural areas.

Ned Lamont, state and local officials, and project representatives. United Illuminating has agreed to purchase electricity from the solar portion for 20 years, providing a stable revenue stream. Revenue from solar and battery operations is expected to support the nature preserve's long-term operation, with planners estimating the park's fund could reach $50 million over three decades.

The solar facilities could be operational by the end of 2027, while battery storage development is expected to continue through the decade. This timeline underscores the project's complexity and the need for careful planning.
