MWG Holdings Continues Support for Cannabis Criminal Justice Reform Through Last Prisoner Project Partnership

MWG Holdings Group, Inc. has announced the continuation of its multi-year partnership with the Last Prisoner Project, a national nonprofit focused on addressing the injustices of cannabis prohibition, through an in-store fundraising campaign at its Perfect Union dispensaries until the end of July. This initiative underscores the company's dedication to criminal justice reform and its belief in rectifying the harms caused by the War on Drugs.

Angelica Sanchez, MWG Holdings’ VP of Government Affairs and Compliance, emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating it reflects the company's stance against the incarceration of individuals for actions now legal in many states. The campaign not only aims to raise funds but also to engage customers in supporting reform efforts and aiding those still impacted by past cannabis laws.

Since 2020, MWG and the Last Prisoner Project have collaborated to provide legal support, advocate for policy changes, and offer reentry services. The Last Prisoner Project has made significant strides, redistributing over $3.5 million to those in need and offering legal assistance to more than 400 individuals. Their efforts include sponsoring legislation like AB 1706 in California, setting a precedent for retroactive cannabis relief.

Philip Feng, Development Associate at the Last Prisoner Project, highlighted the critical role of partnerships with companies like Perfect Union in advancing their mission. Customers can contribute to the cause by donating at specified Perfect Union dispensary locations and Wild Seed Wellness store throughout July.
