National Rainbow College Fund Forms Advisory Council to Support LGBTQ+ Students

The National Rainbow College Fund, powered by San Diego Foundation (SDF), has announced the formation of an Advisory Council to oversee its groundbreaking scholarship program designed exclusively for LGBTQ+ students. This initiative marks a significant step in addressing the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals in pursuing higher education, regardless of their public sexual identity.

The Advisory Council comprises prominent community members who bring diverse expertise and perspectives to guide the scholarship program. The council includes distinguished individuals such as Jarrett Barrios, Senior Vice President for International Services and Services to Armed Forces at the American Red Cross; Amanda Montgomery, Managing Director at Sycamore Tree Capital Partners; Dr. Becky Petitt, Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at the University of California San Diego; Joyce Rowland, former Chief Human Resources Officer at Sempra Energy; and Allen Young, Government Affairs Manager at Cox Communications.

These council members will play crucial roles in advocacy, community relations, strategic guidance, and fundraising for the National Rainbow College Fund. The scholarship program, set to launch in California in 2025, aims to award $2,500 to selected students.
