Otolaryngologist Brett A. Miles Recognized as 2026 Castle Connolly Top Doctor for Head and Neck Cancer Expertise

Brett A. Miles, MD, has been named a 2026 Castle Connolly Top Doctor, marking the 11th consecutive year he has received this professional recognition. Only 7 percent of the nation's licensed physicians are selected annually as Castle Connolly Top Doctors for their specialties in their respective regions. Dr. Miles serves as Chair of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Northwell Health - Lenox Hill Hospital, where he also holds the positions of Vice President for Otolaryngology Services for Northwell Health's Western Region and surgical lead for Head and Neck Oncology for the Northwell Cancer Institute.

Dr. Miles specializes in evaluating and treating a wide range of head and neck tumors, with particular expertise in malignancies of the mouth and throat. His medical focus includes the management of HPV-related head and neck cancers and the treatment of complex oncologic conditions requiring advanced surgical intervention. As surgical lead at the Northwell Cancer Institute, Dr. Miles provides patients with access to interventional clinical trials and modern oncology services, utilizing state-of-the-art techniques including microvascular reconstructive surgery, Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS), computerized virtual surgical planning, minimally invasive robotic surgery, optical margin control and high-resolution microendoscopy, advanced reconstruction of the maxilla and mandible, and treatment of salivary gland tumors.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Miles serves as a Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He has published over 200 articles in peer-reviewed literature and serves on the council of the International Association of Oral Oncology and the American Head and Neck Society's Reconstructive Head and Neck Research Board. Dr. Miles completed his medical education at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and his dental surgery degree at Creighton University, followed by extensive surgical training including a fellowship in Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Surgery at Toronto General Hospital. He maintains dual board certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
