The Our Fund Foundation has announced an increase in its annual distribution to 6%, providing an additional $92,000 to support LGBTQ-serving agencies in South Florida amidst growing government cutbacks and political challenges.

In a significant move to counteract the escalating threats to LGBTQ rights and the diminishing financial support for LGBTQ-serving organizations, The Our Fund Foundation has decided to increase its annual endowed asset distribution from 5% to 6% for the current fiscal year. This adjustment translates into an extra $92,000 in grant money, aimed at offering immediate assistance to agencies that are crucial to the South Florida LGBTQ community's well-being.
David Jobin, President and CEO of The Our Fund Foundation, emphasized the critical nature of this decision, stating that the additional 1% could be pivotal for many organizations teetering on the edge of survival. The Foundation, which manages nearly $25 million in assets, is recognized as a leading LGBTQ-specific funder, committed to not just preserving its resources but also utilizing them courageously to foster a safer and more inclusive future for the community.
This marks only the second occasion in the Foundation's 15-year history that it has exceeded the standard payout rate, the first being during the COVID-19 pandemic to address urgent community needs. Scott Bennett, Chair of the Board of Directors, highlighted the Foundation's role in stepping up when public funding fails, underscoring the unacceptable trend of dwindling support for LGBTQ organizations.
The increased funds will be allocated to agencies within the Foundation's network that are directly affected by recent funding cuts and political hostility. As the sole LGBTQ-specific community foundation in the Southeastern United States, The Our Fund Foundation continues to pioneer efforts in promoting equality through strategic philanthropy and steadfast community support.
