Parksy Data Reveals Stark Contrast in Parking Availability Around Major U.S. Venues

LOS ANGELES, CA — A new analysis by Parksy, the free parking marketplace, has quantified the parking landscape surrounding 12 of America's largest stadiums and arenas, revealing a stark divide between urban and suburban venues. The data, drawn from Parksy's own listings within a five-mile radius, show that downtown arenas like Madison Square Garden boast nearly 2,000 available parking options, while suburban stadiums such as Miami's Hard Rock Stadium have only a handful.

According to the inventory, Madison Square Garden leads with 1,986 listed parking spots, followed by Soldier Field with 1,583 and Fenway Park with 587. In contrast, suburban venues lag significantly: AT&T Stadium has 107, Allegiant Stadium 96, MetLife Stadium 58, and Hard Rock Stadium just 18. SoFi Stadium falls in between with 277 options. These numbers represent Parksy's own listings, not total parking availability, but they highlight a structural pattern: downtown arenas benefit from the surrounding urban infrastructure, while suburban stadiums are often isolated by residential neighborhoods with few commercial parking facilities.

Parksy founder Daniel Battaglia argues that the real solution lies in the unused driveways and parking spots of nearby homeowners. "Demand arrives eighty thousand cars at a time and supply is whatever the official lot holds. The difference is standing on residential concrete twenty feet from the sidewalk. That is not a shortage of parking. It is a shortage of introductions," he said. Parksy, which operates in 57 countries, allows homeowners to list their driveways or unused spots for free, with no posting fee, commission, or lease paperwork. Owners set their own prices, keep all earnings, and choose available dates.

The implications are significant for event organizers, city planners, and residents alike. For stadium operators, the data underscores the need for partnerships with local homeowners to alleviate congestion and improve the fan experience. For homeowners near venues, it presents an opportunity to earn extra income during major events. For cities, it suggests that zoning and parking policies might need to adapt to encourage the use of residential spaces as temporary parking solutions.

Battaglia, who previously worked at Lehman Brothers, RBC Capital Markets, and Macquarie Bank, authored "Parking Made Easy" and founded Parksy in 2011. The company's free tools include parking booking, unfair fine appeals, signage scanning, and car location services. By highlighting the discrepancy in parking availability, Parksy aims to connect drivers with underutilized residential spaces, potentially transforming the parking experience at major events across the country.
