Pet Supplies Plus and Wag N' Wash Near 20,000 Adoption Goal for 2025

Pet Supplies Plus and Wag N' Wash have achieved 19,303 successful pet adoptions year-to-date in 2025 through their nationwide initiative, nearing their goal of helping 20,000 pets find forever homes. This effort builds on their 2024 achievement of supporting 15,000 adoptions, demonstrating a growing commitment to animal welfare through partnerships with local rescues and in-store adoption events. The initiative addresses a critical need, as approximately 2.8 million dogs and cats entered animal shelters in the first half of 2025 alone.

The program is driven by the belief that every pet deserves a second chance, whether they were strays or born into shelters. Increased awareness and education aim to make adoptions more accessible and visible in communities across the country. Chris Rowland, CEO of Pet Supplies Plus and Wag N' Wash, emphasized the impact of each adoption, stating that it changes lives for both the pet and the adopting family. The brands encourage everyone to consider adoption and experience the joy a furry friend can bring.

Data sourced from the Shelter Animals Count National Database highlights the ongoing need for adoption efforts. In the first half of 2025, about 366,000 shelter animals had non-live outcomes, such as euthanasia or death in care. Dog and cat adoptions have slightly decreased compared to 2024, with fewer adult and senior dogs being adopted, though the adoption rate for juvenile dogs is rising. The length of stay for dogs of all sizes increased in 2024, underscoring the urgency of finding homes.

In support of this commitment, Pet Supplies Plus has launched an inaugural Shelter Shoutout Series to highlight the work of local rescue shelters, store teams, and community members. This bi-monthly effort amplifies awareness for adoption while delivering food donations in partnership with Hill's Science Diet. The series has already taken place in Western Michigan, Chicago, Illinois, and Jacksonville, Florida, with upcoming events in Austin, Texas and Charleston, South Carolina.
