pgEdge Cloud Enhances Distributed PostgreSQL with Multi-Availability Zone Support and SOC 2 Compliance

pgEdge, Inc. announced the latest release of pgEdge Cloud, the first fully distributed Database as a Service built entirely on open source PostgreSQL, featuring multi-availability zone support and significant performance enhancements optimized for applications requiring deployment across multiple cloud regions. This release enables businesses to achieve higher fault tolerance, lower latency, and meet stringent data residency requirements through more flexible cluster topologies that allow placement of multiple nodes across different availability zones within the same region.

The enhancements build upon pgEdge Platform v25 and include major upgrades to the Spock extension, pgEdge's advanced logical replication engine. A key improvement is the expanded automatic conflict resolution system, which now handles scenarios like duplicate inserts and missing delete targets automatically while adding support for unique constraint violations using configurable Last-Write-Wins logic. These advancements significantly reduce the need for application-level exception handling code, simplifying development in multi-node distributed environments.

Performance improvements are substantial, with replication operations benefiting from in-memory exception handling that reduces latency and speeds up conflict resolution. The redesigned lag tracking system now operates at the target node, improving measurement accuracy and eliminating misleading lag reports during idle periods. These technical upgrades result in faster, more reliable replication behavior across distributed clusters, making the platform more robust for mission-critical applications demanding always-on availability.

Concurrently, pgEdge has successfully completed a System and Organization Controls (SOC) 2 Type II audit performed by Sensiba LLP, receiving a clean audit opinion with no noted exceptions. Developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the SOC 2 audit examines controls relevant to security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy, providing enterprises with assurance about the platform's compliance and reliability for handling sensitive data in distributed environments.
