The Association of Pickleball Players (APP) is launching a nationwide initiative in April to support cancer research and patient care by encouraging players to engage in pickleball activities while raising funds for the American Cancer Society.

The Association of Pickleball Players (APP) is transforming recreational sport into a powerful fundraising tool with its National Pickleball Challenge, designed to support the American Cancer Society and promote community health during National Pickleball Month.
Participants can make a meaningful impact by playing pickleball ten times throughout April and tracking their active minutes through the Stridekick mobile application. The challenge welcomes all skill levels and types of pickleball-related activities, from competitive matches to casual play and training exercises.
This innovative initiative offers multiple incentives for involvement. Players who generate at least $25 in donations will receive a complimentary "Strength & Hope" t-shirt, while the top ten fundraisers will win an OWL Sport paddle. Beyond individual rewards, the challenge provides a unique opportunity to contribute directly to cancer research and patient support.
Shannon Dan, APP's Executive Vice President of Strategy and Growth, emphasized the dual benefits of the challenge, noting that participants can simultaneously enjoy their favorite sport, reduce personal cancer risk through physical activity, and support those affected by cancer.
The American Cancer Society will receive 100% of the proceeds, which will fund critical initiatives including cancer research, patient support in 20,000 communities nationwide, and advocacy for enhanced cancer care access. This approach transforms recreational play into a meaningful contribution to public health and cancer support efforts.
By gamifying charitable giving through a popular sport, the APP National Pickleball Challenge represents an innovative model of community engagement and social impact. It demonstrates how recreational activities can be leveraged to address significant healthcare challenges while promoting individual wellness.
