Producer Annine Zhang Joins Feature Film THE CURRENT, Bringing Expertise to Emotionally Resonant Story

Hungry Panda Production Inc. proudly announces that acclaimed producer Annine Zhang has officially joined as Producer for the upcoming feature film THE CURRENT, set to begin production on December 31, 2027, and conclude on December 7, 2028. Zhang is recognized for her extensive experience in film production and her ability to bring emotionally resonant stories to the screen. Her previous work has earned critical acclaim, demonstrating her command of both the creative and logistical sides of filmmaking.

Executive Producer Xueru Tang, known for producing award-winning films that bridge cultural and emotional storytelling, will guide the project alongside Zhang. The two form a powerhouse creative team that exemplifies Hungry Panda's commitment to bold, character-driven cinema. THE CURRENT tells the story of a mother who, after serving eight years in prison, returns to a world unrecognizable from the one she once knew. Her home and neighborhood have been transformed, and as she searches for her missing daughter, she encounters a young girl and her grandfather living in a modest motel.

Bound by shared longing and loss, the two women begin to see their own reflections in each other, discovering fragile hope in the process. As Producer, Annine Zhang will oversee all phases of production, including pre-production planning, on-set management, post-production supervision, and distribution strategy. Her responsibilities include designing and implementing a comprehensive production plan covering budget, schedule, and resource allocation, leading casting, location scouting, and interdepartmental coordination among key creative teams.

Zhang will also manage on-set operations to ensure smooth production flow and adherence to safety and quality standards while overseeing post-production teams responsible for editing, visual effects, sound design, and scoring. Additionally, she will develop marketing and distribution strategies, manage festival submissions, and build partnerships with distributors and sales agents. Her leadership will be instrumental in delivering THE CURRENT's ambitious vision.
