Quantum BioPharma's lead drug candidate Lucid-MS targets nerve damage in multiple sclerosis, and its commercial product unbuzzd accelerates alcohol metabolism, with upcoming Phase 2 trials and royalty revenue potential.

Quantum BioPharma Ltd. (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM), a biopharmaceutical company focused on advancing innovative therapies and technologies, was featured on the latest episode of The BioMedWire Podcast. Co-founder and executive co-chair Anthony Durkacz discussed the company’s lead drug candidate, Lucid-MS, which is being developed to address mobility loss associated with multiple sclerosis by targeting nerve damage. Durkacz emphasized that this area remains unmet by currently available treatments, highlighting the potential significance of Lucid-MS in the multiple sclerosis therapeutic landscape.
Durkacz also discussed Quantum BioPharma’s commercial alcohol metabolism product, unbuzzd(TM), which is designed to accelerate blood alcohol metabolism and is currently available in the U.S. market. The product is sold by Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., a company in which Quantum retains a 19.84% ownership stake as of March 31, 2026, and also receives royalty payments of 7% of sales until payments total $250 million, after which the royalty drops to 3% in perpetuity. This arrangement provides Quantum with a recurring revenue stream from unbuzzd sales.
Looking ahead, Durkacz highlighted the company’s upcoming Phase 2 clinical trial for Lucid-MS, which will be the first study to evaluate the drug candidate in multiple sclerosis patients, following Phase 1 testing in healthy volunteers. The Phase 2 trial represents a critical milestone for Quantum, as positive results could validate Lucid-MS's mechanism and pave the way for further development. According to the company, Lucid-MS has shown in preclinical models the ability to prevent and reverse myelin degradation, the underlying mechanism of multiple sclerosis.
The podcast appearance comes at a time when Quantum BioPharma is positioning itself in the neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders space. The company’s pipeline includes drug candidates in different stages of development for challenging conditions, with Lucid Psycheceuticals Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary, leading the research on Lucid-MS. The company retains 100% of the rights to develop similar products or alternative formulations specifically for pharmaceutical and medical uses, ensuring a strong intellectual property position.
