Raleigh Attorney Glenn Doyle Earns Family Financial Mediator Certification

Raleigh attorney Glenn Doyle of Doyle Divorce Law has been certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission (NCDRC) as a Family Financial Mediator. The certification, announced July 28, 2026, allows Doyle to serve in North Carolina's court-based Family Financial Settlement Program (FFSP), which helps separating couples resolve financial disputes through mediation.

Doyle, who has practiced family law since 2002, typically represents clients in divorce, property division, support disputes, custody issues, and separation agreements. As a certified mediator, he will now facilitate discussions between spouses on financial matters such as the family home, retirement accounts, investment assets, shared debt, business interests, child support, and alimony. The FFSP provides a structured setting with a neutral mediator, and when represented, each spouse may have their own attorney present.

The NCDRC sets standards for mediators in court-connected dispute resolution programs. Certification requires applicants to hold a law license, have at least five years of legal practice, complete approved Family Financial Settlement training, demonstrate knowledge of North Carolina family law, undergo required observations, and pass a character review. Certified mediators also agree to provide no-fee mediation services in qualifying cases involving indigent parties.

As a Family Financial Mediator, Doyle remains neutral during negotiations. He does not decide settlement amounts, represent either spouse, or offer legal advice. Instead, his role is to guide discussions, help identify unresolved issues, and facilitate the exchange of information and proposals. The spouses ultimately decide whether to settle and on what terms.

Doyle's certification adds to his existing role as a Raleigh divorce lawyer, where he provides legal advice and advocacy to individual clients. He notes that his mediation training gives him insight into the structure of financial settlement conferences, the documentation typically reviewed, and issues that may require deeper legal analysis.
