Rare 1964 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider Joins DFW Car and Toy Museum Collection

A rare automotive treasure is set to captivate car enthusiasts and history buffs at the newly opened DFW Car and Toy Museum. The museum's latest acquisition, a meticulously preserved 1964 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider, represents a significant moment in automotive engineering and design.

This remarkable vehicle, originally unveiled at the 1962 Geneva Motor Show, embodies the pinnacle of Italian automotive craftsmanship. The hand-built Carrozzeria Touring body and powerful 2.6-liter, all-aluminum, inline-six engine distinguish this convertible as a pinnacle of its era. Generating 145 horsepower and capable of reaching speeds up to 124 miles per hour, the 2600 Spider competed admirably with contemporaries like the Mercedes-Benz 230 SL and Lancia Flaminia Spider.

More than just a beautiful machine, the Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider holds historical significance as the brand's final dual-overhead-camshaft inline-six engine model. Its fully synchronized five-speed transmission and professionally Jet-Hot-coated exhaust headers exemplify the engineering excellence that defined Alfa Romeo during this period.

Part of the Ron Sturgeon Collection, this red convertible will be prominently displayed in the museum's expansive 150,000-square-foot facility. The museum offers visitors a comprehensive journey through automotive and toy history, with the added attractions of free admission and a dog-friendly environment.

Visitors can explore the Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider and numerous other iconic vehicles starting April 1. Located in North Fort Worth, the museum operates Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, promising an immersive experience for automotive enthusiasts of all ages.
