River View Apartments Break Ground in Carlsbad to Address Housing Demand from Industrial Growth

The Carlsbad Department of Development announced the groundbreaking of River View Apartments in the Cascades development, a project delivering 36 modern apartment homes to expand housing options in Carlsbad's high-demand market. Carlsbad's growing industrial corridor, fueled by unprecedented growth in oil and gas, has spurred an influx of workers and increased the need for more housing. This development brings new, high-end residential capacity to support continued growth and attract professionals, families, and new investment.

Gary and Alex Millican, principles in the project, stated they are eager to begin construction, highlighting the project's role in bringing luxurious living to the Pecos River area. CDOD President Susan Crockett emphasized that River View Apartments represents an investment in Carlsbad's future, helping meet housing demand, stimulate economic activity, and support long-term community success. The apartments will offer one-, two-, and three-bedroom floorplans as part of the $7 million project, making it the newest housing development along the Pecos River and the first in the Cascades at Carlsbad mixed-use commercial development.

CDOD Executive Director Kristen Gamboa noted that Project River View embodies the Cascades' vision of turning long-term planning into real investment for Carlsbad, marking a step in transforming underutilized land into an active, productive community asset. The Cascades currently has multiple projects underway totaling nearly $22 million. City of Carlsbad Mayor Rick Lopez expressed excitement about the project, stating it highlights the area's natural beauty and adds much-needed energy and activity, reflecting the city's investment in growth.
