ROS® and FranMan Release Updated Franchise Recruitment Manual to Align with Modern Recruiting Practices

Recruitment Operating System (ROS®) has announced the release of its updated and expanded Franchise Recruitment Manual, developed in collaboration with FranMan, a leader in creating professional operating manuals. This revision, the first significant update since 2021, aims to bring the industry-leading resource in line with how today’s high-performing franchise recruitment teams operate.

Art Coley, founder and CEO of ROS®, emphasized that while the fundamentals of great franchise recruitment remain unchanged, the tools, data, and technology available to recruiters have evolved. “Our job is to bring those pieces together without making recruitment more complicated. We want to take an already powerful resource and make it even more relevant to how champion recruiters operate today,” Coley stated.

The manual has long served as a practical framework for franchise sales and development teams, outlining the primary role and responsibilities of recruiters and guiding candidates through ROS®’ proprietary 8-Step recruitment process. However, the process and pace of franchise recruiting have significantly evolved, with recruiters now having access to expanded datasets, AI-driven technologies, and more sophisticated candidate intel. The updated manual combines timeless principles with the latest tools and best practices needed for high-level performance.

Key updates in the manual include recruitment analytics, which introduces how recruiters can use data to understand their pipeline and make better decisions; artificial intelligence, offering practical best practices for responsible AI use; recruiter behaviors and performance, expanding beyond scripts to address daily, weekly, and monthly behaviors; different types of franchise buyers, including multi-unit and institutional candidates; candidate funding, strengthening guidance on the role of funding; FDD and recruitment process best practices, providing additional depth in critical stages; and modern learning and content integration, connecting the manual with other ROS® educational resources like ROS Academy™.

Lennon Coley, VP of Analytics at ROS®, highlighted the outsized role analytics plays in the update. “Historically, we’ve been very clear in our belief that analytics shouldn’t be limited to what you can access in an executive report – the information is far too valuable. We believe recruiters should have a crystal-clear understanding of their own numbers, including how they operate and where best to apply them. What we’ve accomplished is tying their importance directly to recruiter behaviors and execution – which represents a significant step forward in the process.”

The updated manual advances the recruiting industry’s best practices, policies, operations, and standards. While remaining faithful to the industry’s bedrock principles, the new additions account for the latest developments in procedures, tools, resources, techniques, and sophisticated candidate behaviors, offering franchise recruitment professionals a holistic approach to continuous improvement and outcomes.
