Rotary Club Celebrates 40 Years of Honoring Boca Raton's Outstanding Educators

The Rotary Club of Boca Raton Sunrise continues its four-decade tradition of celebrating educators who shape the community's future through its 40th Annual Teacher of the Year Awards Celebration. Rotarian Frank Barbieri emphasized that this event serves as a reminder that great communities are built on the dedication of great teachers, providing an opportunity to highlight the passion, creativity, and commitment these educators bring to their classrooms daily.

Founded in 1987 by Rotarian and former Palm Beach County School Board Chairman Frank Barbieri, the event has recognized more than 700 outstanding teachers from Boca Raton's public schools. What began with just four honorees has evolved into a signature community celebration that now spotlights 23 exceptional educators each year, demonstrating the growing appreciation for educational excellence in the region.

The celebration features a gourmet cocktail reception and desserts prepared by the talented West Boca High School Academy of Culinary Arts, along with performances by the Spanish River Jazz Ensemble and the Boca Raton High School Choral Group. The evening includes opening ceremonies by the Olympic Heights High School Color Guard and a multimedia presentation honoring each teacher, creating a comprehensive tribute to educational excellence.

The Rotary Club of Boca Raton Sunrise partners with the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce Golden Bell Education Foundation to honor the men and women inspiring the next generation.
