Sheehy Auto Stores' Back-to-School Initiatives Provide Critical Support to Mid-Atlantic Students

Sheehy Auto Stores demonstrated significant community impact through its summer back-to-school initiatives, providing essential support to hundreds of students across Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. The automotive retailer's comprehensive program included donation drives, free services, and strategic partnerships with local schools and organizations, addressing critical needs for families preparing for the academic year. All 30 dealerships participated in the annual School Supply Drive from July 28 through August 11, collecting thousands of new supplies including backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and hygiene essentials.

The collected items were distributed through an extensive network of community partners including the Ronald McDonald House of Northern Virginia, Kids in Need Foundation, and the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Educational institutions such as Garfield Elementary, Spotswood Elementary, and Forest Oak Middle School's Linkages to Learning Program received direct support, ensuring students began the school year with necessary tools and increased confidence. These partnerships highlight the program's strategic approach to addressing educational inequities at multiple levels.

Sheehy Toyota dealerships enhanced their impact through Toyota's nationwide initiative in partnership with the Kids In Need Foundation. Sheehy Toyota of Laurel donated $10,000 to Laurel Woods Elementary School, where teachers organized a special back-to-school shopping experience for students with dealership team members volunteering to assist. Sheehy Toyota of Fredericksburg pledged $5,000 to Hugh Mercer Elementary to provide critical resources for local families, while Sheehy Toyota of Timonium and Sheehy Toyota of Stafford contributed directly to KINF's national pool benefiting underserved schools nationwide.

The company's commitment extended beyond material donations with the third annual Sharp Start Saturday event in Fredericksburg. Sponsored by Sheehy GMC of Fredericksburg and held August 9, the event provided 148 free haircuts, 150 lunchboxes with gift cards, and complimentary meals from the Kool Zone food truck to students ages 5-16. This holistic approach addressed both practical needs and psychological preparedness, helping children start the school year looking and feeling their best. The initiative reflects Sheehy's broader corporate philosophy of building lasting relationships within the communities it serves through its Sheehy Cares program.
