Simply Me Photography Exhibit Celebrates Childhood Identity and Community Confidence

The Simply Me community photography project, created by South Shore artist Isabella Ripley, celebrates childhood identity and confidence through a unique pairing of professional portraits with children's own self-portrait drawings. This innovative approach gives children the opportunity to see themselves as artists, superstars, and valued community members while building essential self-worth through artistic expression. The project features children from throughout the South Shore region, ranging in age from 3 to 12 years old, with Ripley working closely with families and children to capture their authentic personalities.

The heart of Simply Me focuses on preserving childhood memories while simultaneously strengthening children's confidence. By combining professional photography with children's own artistic creations, the project creates a powerful visual narrative that reinforces each child's unique identity and value. For Isabella Ripley, the Simply Me project stems from deeply personal experiences. She explains how a single portrait became a constant source of comfort and validation during her parents' divorce. That printed photograph hanging in her living room served as a daily reminder that she remained important, seen, and loved despite family changes. This childhood experience directly inspired the creation of Simply Me, born from the conviction that printed artwork can help children maintain their confidence when life circumstances shift around them. The project represents Ripley's commitment to providing other children with similar anchors of self-assurance.

The community can experience this special exhibition during an open house event on October 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at The Frame Center Gallery located at 152 Rockland Street in Hanover. The event features numerous special activities designed to make children feel celebrated, including a red carpet entrance, VIP tags for all participants, a child-friendly scavenger hunt, family swag bags, and light refreshments. Additionally, attendees can enter a raffle for a chance to win a portrait session. The Simply Me exhibition will remain open daily from October 6 through November 3, providing ample opportunity for community members to view these meaningful portrait pairings that showcase both professional artistry and children's creative perspectives.
